Tis the season for proms. Girls buy poofy (at least in the 80's we did) dresses and boys rent tuxes, there is dancing and memory making.
I came across this article in the NY Times about segregated proms in the south. I just cannot FATHOM that in 2009 this type of segregation is still going on..so steeped in tradition that noone is willing to change it..
I thought this country was way more advanced than this - what type of message are we sending to these High School Seniors? ugh..
