That Monday, she went to her regular doctor. She had made this appointment months ago, it was to have a physical and to discuss medical options that she knew needed attention but she was putting off until she had a baby, the baby that was not suppose to be conceived. She thought she would get a pregnancy test, it would be negative and she could schedule her nose job and buy that sports car.
When her doctor told her the news that she was indeed pregnant, he was smiling ear to ear and she was stunned. She knew she had to act happy about it, inside she was still conflicted.
After the appointment, she texted him “Positive” , hoping he would react in a way to make her feel better. He too was stunned; she knew he was questioning her fidelity. How could this baby be his?
They held each other that night. She cried and shook. How could she trust him? There was so much more at stake now. She knew this baby would be special. She was standing at a crossroads in her life, one that she was told she would never reach.
With a deep breath, she stepped forward and became a mother. She took a chance with her heart, to allow one into her broken frightened heart.
And she won.
