Eggplant and Real Estate

Last night S and I had my mom (pictured here - isn't she fabulous?)over for dinner -I made a dish with eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, basil, baby bellas and shrimp, tossed with whole wheat pasta - served with a caprese salad made with local tomatoes and basil from my back deck, some Italian bread and bottle of red wine..It was quite a feast. It was mom's first time seeing the new kitchen put together and happily she approved. YAY!

Anyhow, as we were siting at the table eating and listening to some jazz, the three of us got talking about real estate. S and I have been looking for a house. What should the main criteria be? School district? room size? neighborhood? resale value? Or is it the every important LOCATION? Where we live now is incredibley convenient to highways, stores and restaurants. We discussed the various neighborhoods nearby that would provide us the same creature comforts. We discussed how much we can afford, it is all very overwhelming. I have lived in my house for over 8 years, and S has been here for 2 of them.

We are ready to move to a bigger house with more space for all of our and L and D's stuff and maybe a new little person.. But the thought of packing and unpacking, getting used to a new routine, a new commute, new neighbors...YIKES...After mom left, we discussed it further. YES, we are ready, YES, it will be alot of work...My house should sell without much of a problem, where will we land? The newer colonial that we like in the great neighborhood or the older colonial (its as old as me!) on the street with a name we cant pronounce? Or how about new construction? All we know is that we need to "drill down" on a location..Because as they say, its all about location, location, location....

Happy Friday! :)
