Farmers Market

If you have not yet been outside today - GO...It is one of those perfect early fall days, warm, but with the slightest refreshing hint of fall.
I just came in from the farmers market on the Empire State Plaza with many bags of goodies. I love to cook, especially this time of year when there is so much fresh local produce available..

I have not been farmers market shopping much in the past few weeks due to the fact that I had no kitchen...WELL, now I do and I'm ready to get back in it.. I bought eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes and apples. Being a vegetarian (or I guess a Pescatarian (sp?),as I do eat fish), I love to cook up a bunch of veggies together. S calls it it my pot o' veggies. As with pretty much all the meals I make, I start out with olive oil and garlic (fresh, also from the farmers market, Music is my favorite variety) - then I proceed to chop up any veggies I can get my hands on, cook them all down, add some whole wheat pasta, open a bottle of wine and we are eating dinner in no time. Though I have been known to fire up the George Forman grill (one of my favorite appliances), or even bake or steam the veggies. Shoot, now I have made myself hungry...

Remember, if you can - buy local when possible, we need to keep those farmers in business! :)
